"Its been 2 weeks with this new camera and I'm very happy with it. The quality of photos are extremely impressive for an intermediate photographer like myself. This camera will be with me when I travel across the globe to Asia in summer where there will be lots of swimming and hiking. Perfect camera for travel. The night shots are also excellent. If you plan to use memory 4GB and larger, be sure to upgrade to the latest firmware using the included software. It only took mine 5 minutes to update using the included USB cable. There are also several modes to choose from. One thing I wish could be a little better is the shutter times. At 10 MP the shutter takes a couple seconds which in motion, is long enough to lose a shot. If you're worried about that then maybe its better to spend a hundred bucks more on a Digital SLR. For me, its fine since I will use this mostly for web albums and a few large prints.

"We bought Olympus Stylus 1030SW Digital camera for a trip to Hawaii. Performed like a champ!! It handled the abuse from all 9 of the people on our trip. At the end we had taken more than 1800 (not typo, yes 1800) All but a few dozen turned out fantastic!

"Olympus Stylus 1030SW Digital camera is a very compact, rugged, water-resistant digital camera for outdoor use. This camera has a sophisticated exposure system which allows the user considerable flexibility in producing properly exposed outdoor/indoor shots. Camera is easy to use. It has menu-driven scene mode for preset exposure control, or manual mode for finer exposure control. Camera is really optimized for daylight outdoor photography, though it is capable of producing acceptable indoor images provided the flash is used or exposure times are sufficiently long. Color rendition and saturation is excellent. Image resolution is excellent and on 8x10 paper with shows no noticeable granularity.

"The over all rating for this Olympus 1030 SW camera is good so far. But 3 areas this camera does not rate great with me are: Memory, Focus, and USB Connector. - - - Memory, You have to buy the "Olympus" memory in order to get all functions to work in the camera, they are Panorama, 3D, and Art options. Standard PNY memory cost me less then half the price of the "Genuine Olympus" PNY memory, ex: 2GB, PNY $20, compaired to "Olympus" PNY 2GB (Still PNY memory) $50. - - - Focus: Close up shots are great, Macro is really great, but take a picture of stuff far out and they are always fuzzy. Take a picture of people on the lawn, and the grass is also always fuzzy. I believe it is just the nature of the small lens. So at what point does the Megapixel out do the capabilities of the small lens? 10 Megapixel IMHO is too much for this lens. 8 Megapixel may have given me the same results for less. - - - USB connection: A standard USB cord will not work with this camera so don't loose the one that comes with it. The connector is multi-function connector, USB, Video, and Audio in one non-standard connector. - - - Lens cover: I am worried about this cover sliding over the lens each time you use the camera and the lens gets fine dust on it such as fine sand. Time will tell. It seems to wipe the lens clean/dry when it is wet from being used in the water. - - - The video recording is great, I can get a single 30 minutes videos from this camera with out timing out. And the play back is not bad. The video files are large, but that is normal with any camera. - - - Water proof is wonderful. I take it jet Skiing & Knee boarding with me it's been great. Camera has a solid feeling about it. Crush proof up to 220 LBS, I hope, since I wear it on my belt all the time, I tend to lay on it from time to time. Battery life, not sure about yet.
